Estrellita’s Snacks
Estrellita’s Snacks is a second-generation family-owned Salvadoran food company specializing in Pupusas, Tamales, and Tostadas. Featured in the San Francisco Chronicle, the restaurant was lauded as the place to find the best pupusas in the Bay Area and has become a worthwhile source of Salvadoran cooking as well as Oaxacan food. Born in San Francisco’s Mission District , Maria del Carmen founded the business by selling her freshly fried plantain and yucca chips to customers that missed the taste and crunch of tostadas from El Salvador. Over the years Estrellita’s Snacks has grown and today the family runs the new storefront restaurant on 483 Ellis Street.
